Tagging and filtering projects

How to label projects with tags and filter the projects list by them.

What tags are for

Tags are labels you put on projects to group them, for example by client, region or purpose. They only affect how the projects list is organised. A tag never changes how a project or its instances are deployed, and renaming or removing one has no effect on any server.

Tags belong to the workspace. Every member of the workspace uses the same set, and a tag created in one workspace is not visible in another.

Adding tags to a project

Open the project, go to Project Settings and stay on the General tab. Under Tags, type a name in the Add a tag field and press Enter. As you type, existing tags from your workspace are suggested; pick one to reuse it. A name you have not used before creates a new tag. Matching ignores capitalisation, so "Production" and "production" are the same tag.

To remove a tag from the project, click the × on its chip. Click Save at the top of the settings page to keep your changes.

Tags can be edited by members who have permission to change the project's settings.

Filtering the projects list

On the Projects page, each card shows its tags. Click a tag on a card to list every project that carries it.

To filter by several tags, click Filters. In the Filter projects window, pick tags from the Tags field; each one you pick is added to the list below it. Click Apply to filter the list, Reset to empty your selection, or Cancel to close the window without changing anything. Projects carrying any of the selected tags are shown.

The filters you applied appear as chips under the page title. Click the × on a chip to remove that filter, or Clear all to remove them all. The search box at the top of the page searches within the filtered list.

Filters are part of the page address, so you can bookmark a filtered list or share it with a teammate.

Who sees which tags

A member who has access to only some of the workspace's projects only sees the tags used on those projects. Tags that appear only on projects they cannot open are not listed for them.
