Getting Started

Getting started: the onboarding wizard

How to complete the onboarding wizard, including the Just me and With my team paths, naming a team workspace, the first server and project checklist, and cloud credit offers.

When you first sign in, CICDoo opens a short onboarding wizard. It sets up how you will use the app and walks you to your first server and project. The dashboard unlocks once you have both.

Choose how you will use CICDoo

The first screen asks "How will you use CICDoo?". This choice only tailors your setup, and you can still invite teammates later.

  1. Read the two cards:

    • Just me: deploy and manage your own servers and projects.
    • With my team: share a workspace, invite members, and manage access together.

  2. Click "Just me" to go straight to the checklist, or click "With my team" to name a workspace first.

If someone already invited you to their workspace, a box at the top lists those workspaces. Click "Open" followed by the workspace name to jump straight in instead of going through the wizard.

Name your team workspace

If you chose "With my team", the wizard shows "Name your workspace".

  1. Enter a Workspace name, for example your company name.
  2. Check the URL slug. It is filled in from the name as you type, and you can change it. It becomes part of your workspace address.
  3. Click "Create workspace".

If the name or slug is missing, or the slug is not available, an error appears under the fields. Once the workspace is created, the wizard moves on to the checklist. You invite members later from Settings, see Inviting workspace members.

Add your first server and project

The last screen, "Let's get your first deployment running", is a two-item checklist. Each item gets a check mark once it is done.

  1. Under "Add your first server", click "Add server" and complete the form to connect a machine (host or IP plus SSH) for CICDoo to deploy to. See Adding a server.
  2. Under "Create a project", click "Create project" and point it at your repository. See Creating a project.
  3. Click "Go to dashboard". This button stays disabled until you have both a server and a project.

You can also leave the wizard with "Log out" at the top right and pick up where you left off next time you sign in.

No server yet?

Until you add a server, the first checklist item shows free credit offers from cloud providers where you can spin one up: Google Cloud, AWS, OVHcloud, Vultr and Linode (Akamai). Each card opens the provider's site. These are third party offers, and the exact credit and eligibility terms apply on each provider's site. The offers disappear once you have a server.

If you would rather not deal with servers at all:

  1. Find the "Rather not deal with servers?" box under the provider offers.
  2. Click "Schedule a meeting" to book a quick call. The CICDoo team can host and manage everything for you.
