Cloudpepper and CICDoo in one minute

Cloudpepper (cloudpepper.io) is an Odoo hosting control panel. You connect a server from AWS, Hetzner, Vultr, DigitalOcean, OVH or any clean Ubuntu or Debian machine you can reach over SSH, or you rent a server from Cloudpepper directly and have it invoiced with your plan. From the dashboard you create isolated Odoo instances, pick Community or Enterprise, attach module repositories, create staging copies of production and schedule backups. Cloudpepper tunes PostgreSQL, nginx, workers and SSL for you and gives each new instance a working subdomain straight away. (Note that cloudpepper.com is not their product site; the product lives at cloudpepper.io.)

CICDoo is a Git-driven Odoo DevOps platform. You connect Linux servers you own, link a GitHub or GitLab repository (GitLab.com or self-hosted GitLab), and CICDoo deploys an Odoo instance per branch, each in its own Docker container, with nginx and automatic SSL for your domains. Branches map to development, staging and production stages, and you can merge between branches from the console. If you do not want to run anything yourself, CICDoo also offers fully managed operations by its engineers.

Both products leave the data on infrastructure you control. The differences are in how code moves, how teams are organised and who you call when something breaks.

Where they differ

How code reaches Odoo. Cloudpepper treats a repository as a source of add-ons attached to an instance. You add a repository under the instance's Addons tab, choose which modules to install, and either press Update or turn on auto-deploy on push for GitHub. Other providers (GitLab, Bitbucket, self-hosted Gitea) work over SSH deploy keys. CICDoo starts from the repository instead: each branch becomes an instance, the stage of the branch decides how it behaves, and promoting work is a merge. If your team already thinks in branches and pull requests, CICDoo's branch and stage model will feel closer to how you work. If you mostly run standard apps with a few custom modules, Cloudpepper's add-on model is simpler.

Stages. Cloudpepper documents production instances and staging instances duplicated from production, on the same or a different server, and you can restore backups into staging. CICDoo has three explicit stages (development, staging, production), so feature branches get their own disposable instances before they reach staging.

Backup destinations. Cloudpepper is broader here. Its docs list Cloudpepper managed backup storage plus Azure Blob Storage, Google Cloud Storage, AWS S3 and SFTP, with hourly to monthly schedules, several parallel schedules per instance and restore to a different server. CICDoo stores scheduled and on-demand backups in S3-compatible storage with retention, download and restore (how backups work). If SFTP or Azure Blob is a hard requirement, Cloudpepper covers it natively.

Monitoring and alerts. Cloudpepper documents a Monitoring tab per server with CPU, RAM, disk and database connection usage over time. We could not find alert channels described in its public docs. CICDoo runs uptime checks and resource metrics and sends alerts by email, Telegram and SMS.

Teams and support. Cloudpepper's docs mention user roles, including a read-only role that also limits what a connected AI assistant can do, and an audit log. CICDoo workspaces grant access per resource (project, instance, server) and per action, with 2FA and an audit trail, which matters for agencies giving clients or contractors partial access. CICDoo also offers white-label workspaces for agencies and optional operations run by CICDoo engineers.

Choose Cloudpepper if...

  • You want a mature, dashboard-first control panel and do not need a branch-per-instance workflow.
  • You need backups sent to SFTP, Azure Blob Storage or Google Cloud Storage, or several parallel backup schedules per instance out of the box.
  • You like the option of renting the server from Cloudpepper and having hosting and platform on one invoice.
  • You want to drive your hosting from Claude or Codex: Cloudpepper runs a hosted MCP server with read and write tools (logs, slow queries, backups, module updates), with destructive actions kept away from production.
  • You value extensive self-service docs: their knowledge base covers provider-specific deploys, server sizing, IP allowlists, read-only reporting users and migrations from Odoo.sh, Odoo Online and on-premise.

Choose CICDoo if...

  • Your team works in Git branches and wants every branch deployed as its own instance across development, staging and production, with merges from the console.
  • You host code on self-hosted GitLab and want it treated as a first-class provider.
  • You need alerts on Telegram or SMS, not only a metrics screen.
  • You run an agency and need per-resource, per-action permissions, white-label workspaces and a partner program.
  • You want the option of managed operations by CICDoo engineers on your own servers, with ticketed human support.
  • You want AI inside Odoo itself: Claudoo does real Odoo work (confirming orders, posting invoices) as the user, with an audit trail, and agent tasks work on your repository.

CICDoo paid access is quoted per project. There are no per-user fees and no compute markup, since you pay your cloud provider directly. Talk to us for a quote.

Moving from Cloudpepper to CICDoo

  1. Prepare a server. Use a fresh Linux server (or keep your current provider) that CICDoo can reach over SSH as root or a sudo user, then add it to CICDoo.
  2. Connect the repository. Link the GitHub or GitLab repository that holds your custom modules and create the project. Your production branch becomes the production instance; create a staging branch for the dry run.
  3. Export from Cloudpepper. Download a full backup of the instance (database plus filestore) from its Backups section. Cloudpepper's docs describe downloading database and file backups directly.
  4. Restore into CICDoo. With an S3-compatible bucket configured, upload the backup zip in the instance's Backups tab and restore it, first on staging. If you run Enterprise, enable it on the instance and keep your subscription code handy.
  5. Test. Log in, check scheduled actions, outgoing mail servers and integrations, and confirm the Odoo version matches the source.
  6. Cut over DNS. Lower the TTL of your domain a day ahead. In a quiet window, stop writes on Cloudpepper, take a final backup, restore it on the CICDoo production instance, then point the A record at the new server. CICDoo issues the SSL certificate once DNS resolves (domains and DNS).

FAQ

Questions, answered

Is Cloudpepper free?

Cloudpepper's docs describe paid plans named Base, Pro and Agency, billed as a card subscription, and most setup guides list one of those plans as a requirement. The docs also mention a no-cost cloudpepper.site subdomain for new instances. For current plan details and any trial, check the pricing page on cloudpepper.io.

Does Cloudpepper support Odoo Community?

Yes. Cloudpepper installs Odoo Community by default and lets you switch an instance to Enterprise by uploading the Enterprise source (or linking GitHub as an Odoo partner) and entering your subscription code.

Which Odoo versions does Cloudpepper support?

Its operating system compatibility guide covers Odoo 11.0 to 19.0, and as of September 2026 the same table already lists an operating system for Odoo 20.0. CICDoo supports 11.0 to the latest release, plus master.

Is cloudpepper.com the same as Cloudpepper?

No. The Odoo hosting product is at cloudpepper.io. The cloudpepper.com domain is not their product site.

What is the best Cloudpepper alternative?

It depends on what you want to change. For a Git branch workflow with three stages, per-resource permissions and optional managed operations on your own servers, CICDoo is a strong fit. Our guide to choosing Odoo hosting compares the main options side by side.

Can I move from Cloudpepper to CICDoo without downtime?

Close to it. You rehearse the migration on a staging instance while production keeps running on Cloudpepper, then the only interruption is a short write freeze while you take the final backup, restore it and switch DNS. With a low TTL that window is usually minutes, not hours.
